Your AVG AntiVirus FREE is outdated

If you are using AVG Free 2014 already, you may get this notice popping up in the bottom right of your screen. If you do, and you want to continue with the FREE version, here is what to do.

The notice:

Update now to our 2014 version for improved
protection against the latest viruses & spyware.
Update Now


Click Update Now

Initializing Installation

Wait

Accept the agreement

Now, THIS STEP IS CRUCIAL:
Check BASIC PROTECTION
then click on Next.

UPDATE: SOME PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT CHECKED BASIC HAVE ENDED UP NOT BEING ABLE TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET AFTER THE UPDATE (until they downgrade to the Basic version).


Now it will install the update.

When it is done installing, the AVG main window will come up with a band across it:
Congratulations!
You've successfully updated to AVG AntiVirus FREE 2014


Click on Continue
Close AVG (your previous settings should still be the same)

There will also be a window that comes up:
Computer Restart Required

Now, save anything you might be working on and then click Restart now in the AVG pop up window.
